Last fall our Executive Team conducted a discernment process out of which they established a three-year plan. One major goal was to establish a financial sustainability plan to empower our growth. (Click here to see more details.)
Recently I have heard a few stories about people feeling down or even defeated in their transformation journey. One person had gotten so caught up in working on their vows, shame, and anxiety that they had lost sight of their progress. Another shared how she felt that she hasn’t made enough progress, and was discouraged by the same things coming up after years of working on them.
In response to this, our coach took us through a practice to help us step outside of the daily grind of our transformation journey and reflect on our journeys thus far.
If you have been around Faithwalking for any period of time you have most likely heard someone say transformation has a half-life. Basically, it means the transformation we experience throughout our lives will dissipate if we try to simply coast on our previous formation work.
As we talked to people around the Faithwalking community a common question came up, “I have finished all of the core curriculum” or “I have finished 201 and I am not ready to move on to another component, how can I stay connected and continue my transformation journey?”

We are excited to announce that we are introducing a handful of new Faithwalking 101 formats. Our hope is by creating more ways for people to get involved it will make Faithwalking more accessible to those who it was not before.
Faithwalking 101 is the beginning of your spiritual formation process. During 101 participants hear presentations about being fully human and fully alive according to God’s design and how that makes a difference in their world. They also spend time in solitude and share experiences in a small group.
This week leaders throughout the Faithwalking community joined together for three days to reflect, learn, and be challenged by each other. Being in a room with a group of people who are dedicated to living fully into God’s intended design for their lives, while actively doing the work to transform their communities, is inspirational and challenging.
This was my first time to meet anyone outside of the Houston Faithwalking community. Going into this learning community opportunity, my vision was vast but my perspective was narrow. I had little context for the unique journey of other groups committed to Faithwalking from around the nation.
